What's tofu?
Tofu is also called bean curd, is a food arranged by coagulating soy milk and afterward squeezing the subsequent curds into strong white squares of differing delicate quality and itt tends to be smooth, delicate, firm, additional firm or very firm. It contains 8 grams of tofu protein which is less compared with paneer and it is also known as vegan paneer.
Ingredients:
- Soya beans (250 grams)
- Water (1750 ml or 1.75 litres)
- Lemon
Making of tofu protein:
On first you need to soak soya beans in water for 8-10 hours and then rinse with water two or three times completely. The proportion for grinding 250 grams of soya beans is with 1750 ml (1.75 l) of water, if needed you can add some water too and blend it completely into a smooth paste. Now filter the paste with a cotton cloth and strain it by closing the cloth and squeeze the soya milk out of it. Then take the remaining dry pulp out of the cotton cloth.
Note: you may does this process many time as you have small grinder in your home.
Now take the soya milk and boil it for some minutes. At medium flame, you need to remove the frost forming on the top. Now reduce the flame and keep it over 6-7 minutes and after that add lemon juice and stir it for few minutes. Now close the lid and let it boil for 5 minutes. If you see the soya milk is completely curdle then you can strain the excess water using cotton cloth.
Note:
- If it is not curdled then you can add lemon juice.
- Before squeezing water add some room to it as it will make them cool and remove the excess lemon.
Then using the same cotton cloth fold them on the four sides and form a square or rectangle shape and place a plate over it. After that apply your body weight over it and place a heavy object over it. Now wait for 10 minutes then remove the excess weight and get the hard curdle soya milk (tofu) into a new dish plate and freeze it for 30 minutes.
Now cut the block of tofu into small pieces.
Tada!...... There it is a tofu which is a vegan paneer and less tofu protein compared with paneer.
